Borderlands 4 takes Vault Hunters to Kairos to find weapons, improve their skills and explore the world in a campaign playable solo or in online co-op for up to four people.

Combine split-screen and online players

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S support two-player local split-screen. One local pair can add two online friends, and two separate split-screen pairs can also form a four-player group. The PC edition supports online co-op; local PC split-screen is not confirmed.

Crossplay and different character levels

The released PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions support crossplay using SHiFT accounts. Gearbox describes dynamically scaling enemies, per-player difficulty settings and fast travel to teammates. These make it easier to play in groups with different character levels and progression. More details are in the English Xbox developer interview and the English support page.

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition, previously announced and later delayed, has not been released. Do not treat its mention in older support materials as proof of current compatibility.
