Genshin Impact is an open-world action RPG set in Teyvat. Most story progression is solo, while selected bosses, Domains and open-world activities can be tackled with friends.

How to unlock co-op

Online co-op is unlocked at Adventure Rank 16 and supports up to four players. Players must be connected to the same regional game server. Active quests or certain event sections may temporarily prevent joining a friend's world.

Crossplay and platform restrictions

Crossplay is supported on the current Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android releases. Xbox and PlayStation provide optional console-platform matchmaking restrictions that can limit multiplayer to users of the same platform. The PS4 version stopped being playable on April 8, 2026; PS5 support continues.

For troubleshooting, consult the English HoYoverse co-op support guide.

Co-op becomes available at Adventure Rank 16, although active quests may temporarily block access.

Up to four can join compatible activities in one world.

Yes, if everyone uses the same regional game server and has not restricted cross-platform matchmaking.

No. Support for the PS4 edition ended on April 8, 2026.
