Minecraft is a sandbox game from Mojang Studios about building, crafting and surviving in procedurally generated worlds. Players can share worlds in creative and survival modes.

Java and Bedrock multiplayer are different

Bedrock Edition supports multiplayer and crossplay across its supported Windows, console and mobile versions. Java Edition connects Windows, macOS and Linux through Java multiplayer worlds and servers. Java and Bedrock cannot join the same world natively; specialized third-party bridging is not part of the standard game.

Split-screen and dedicated servers

Bedrock supports local split-screen on selected consoles, generally up to four players when supported by the device. Official server software is available separately for Java and Bedrock. Check the official English edition comparison before selecting a server and inviting your group.

Not natively. They use different multiplayer server protocols.

Bedrock Edition, on supported devices.

Bedrock on supported consoles offers local split-screen; Java does not include it.

Yes. Java and Bedrock use different server software.
